| Abstract: | A review that updates a 1985 analysis of the manufactured cigarette market reflecting the decline in cigarette sales and handrolling tobacco as a result of the above-inflation tax and anti-smoking lobby, the cigarette smoking population, reduced exports and fall in U.K. sales, factory closure and job losses, the role of limited distribution imports from Federal Germany, the U.K. marketing of lower priced lines not supported by heavy advertising, low tar brands, sales and voluntary manufacturer/government agreements to reduce advertising and promotion. Eight Tables are given. |
