| Abstract: | When GM's Van Nuys, California, plant considered opening a Skill Center in 1990, the purpose of the school was to act as a barrier against GM's losing its employees. That all changed, however, when the plant closed in August 1992. The Skill Center now provides training for employees leaving GM and those being transferred within the company. |
