Abstract:During an attempt to identify why its corporate store managers were not performing as well as the franchisees, Pearle Vision discovered an important difference: empowerment. The company's system did not encourage the managers of company owned stores to practice innovative management. To turn the situation around, Pearle Vision has begun empowering its 500 store managers through a new bonus system, a training program and a new company culture.
