Abstract:This article discusses credit transfer as a reliable and valid measure of quality of mobility. The stress on credit transfer seems to be able to lead to a practice endangering the academic quality of a study abroad. But at the same time it produces a high level of actual credit transfer. it is argued that a realistic base and a stronger emphasis on the academic content of a study abroad as an integral part of recognition procedures is necessary to preserve credit transfer as a simple and useful performance indicator in the field of international mobility.
