Abstract: | What can companies do to head off potential fines and other penalties that could be incurred for failure to comply with environmental laws and regulations? Answer: by installing an environmental management system (EMS). An EMS emphasizes prevention of adverse environmental effects rather than detection and amelioration after occurrence. Toward this end, the system should make it easier for an organization's environmental policies and objectives to comply with applicable laws and regulations |
