Abstract:This article examines the relative breakdown rates of unused toilet paper, facial tissues and tampons in nine locations in Tasmania, Australia. The various outcomes of decay are discussed. The results show that for products in which nutrients were added the mean annual rainfall is the most important factor in determining mean breakdown. The breakdown of unfertilized products was mostly dependent on the temperature and soil content.
