| Abstract: | A review of the activity of Swedlanka Engineering, a Swedish-Sri Lankan joint venture, involving Swedfund and Conrit AB, a small Swedish firm, to produce machine tools, Sri Lankan efforts to provide foreign investment incentives, the need for the Swedish base to find new markets, due to high unit costs, the way the joint venture has cut costs and expanded markets, but how Sri Lanka has a cheap labour edge that is subject to erosion. |
