Abstract: | The paper is concentrated on the evaluation of the effectiveness of the EU's tourism policy environment taking into account the potential areas of involvement from the perspective of the stakeholders who are involved in the decision making process. Stakeholder interviews are used to construct the institutional environment for tourism. Four types of involvement were suggested ranging from maintaining the status quo to a common tourism policy: no competence, common promotion, sponsorship and framework policy. A significant change in the status quo is unlikely to happen, because of the complexities of the institutional environment for tourism and the diversity of opinion among stakeholders |
