| Abstract: | Much of Estonia's current economic policy was determined when the country reformed its currency board regime in 1992, which left only a narrow range of options. The currency exchange rate was set at 1 DEM to 8 EEK and the amount of currency in circulation was linked to foreign exchange reserves, while cash and capital flow was left practically unrestricted. But unlike a classical currency board system, the Bank of Estonia maintained a lever to regulate money supply. |
