Abstract:The korean government's intervention in financial system began in the 1960s and deepened in the 1970s. In the 1980s, it started a liberalization reform which was one-sided and not thorough. As a result, there is a longstanding structural problem in the financial system, which then leads to the problems of adventure and high liability business operation in the financial activities of financial institutions and enterprises. These macro and micro problems which are closely associated are, in the final analysis, caused by the government's intervention, These problems finally led to Korea's financial crisis and her serious economic recession in 1997.
