Abstract:The article examines the relationship between management, a First World discipline, and the Third World. Although management is something considered to exist only in modern societies, a distinctive form of management, Development Administration and Management (DAM), can be applied to the Third World. The paper considers the (dis)similarities between DAM and management, DAM in practice, and DAM and management as instruments of national-level neo-liberal change.
