Abstract: | This issue grew out of ongoing conversations among several scholars about the relevance of organizational communication scholarship, in particular for practitioners, organizational members, students, community members, and ourselves. The essays provided by this issue offer new ways to conceptualize the authors' disciplinary practices, provide "how-to" tips for conducting more engaged research, and make clear the inextricable connections between theory and practice. Then the author shortly considers each of the essays and after states that they vary in focus, they are united in the (sometimes implicit, sometime explicit) critique of the extant institutional practices that discourage scholars from translating academic scholarship for a variety of audiences. |
