| Abstract: | The epoch saw the flourishing of an ideal of noble man and of a society of the world which incorporated features of court aristocracy and of gentry culture. Literature e.g. Karamzin, played a role in the shaping of this ideal. From the end of the l8th- beginning of the l9th century the man of the world is in the focus of Russian culture. High society develops its code of cultural conduct which is distinct from that of Europe. |
