| Abstract: | The article is about trends of symbols generation by the Russian symbolists at the end of the first beginning of the second decades of the 20th century. The shaping of the poetics of symbols in the 'new art' was a controversial and multi-phased process which resulted in several types of symbolization. In F. Sologub's play "'Van'ka Kliuchnik i pazh Zhan an attempt is made at creating a 'realistic' symbol fed on symbolistic gnoseology and aesthetic utopia and opposed to the decadent subjectivism of the epoch. |
