| Abstract: | It is impossible to create a science of translation through a synthesis of data obtained by differing methods borrowed from other scientific disciplines. The object of a comprehensive translation theory should be the process of translation in its various modifications There is a need for a model of the translation process which would embrace linguistic, cross-linguistic, semiotic and other theories of translation. This could lead to more flexible criteria of translation analysis and evaluation. |
