Abstract:The increased process of globalisation is forcing the automotive industry not only to sell but also to produce vehicles on a worldwide basis. This encapsulates regional differencies taking into account global standardisation as well as regional peculiarities. The different possibilities of globalisation are described by four basic types: ethno-, poly-, geo- and eclectocentric one. A dynamic view of these basic types reveals the development path of a global player company, Daimler-Benz, business segment passenger cars, section Mercedes-Benz, is going to move from an ethno-/ polycentric attitude to an eclectocentric one. These strategic changes are causing structural and process-related alterations in connection with new ideas for a worldwide management scorecard system.
