| Abstract: | Symbols come about as a result of interpretation of a sign by means of another sign. Hierarchically organized text determines the set-up of intratextual symbols. Textual interpretations transmit information about the code structure of the text. The article is based on an interpretative approach characteristic of francophone literature and takes no account of generative text models. |
