Abstract:An invesgitation of the cost-effectiveness and effect on reponse rates of price draws and repaid monetary incentives can substantially and cost-effectively increase response rates to a mail survey. Rates of returned refusals associated with different monetary incentives and proportion of returned refusals who returned the incentive are presented, cost-efficiency of the different monetary incentives is analysed. Findings may be explained in terms of cognitive dissonance theory.
