Abstract: | If the high-yield market can adjust itself to the loss of a leading market maker and absorb the current credit problems of some of its major over-leveraged issuers via bankruptcies or recapitalizations, then it can emerge as a viable financing tool for corporate managers in the 1990s. If so, the high-yield debt market will remain an important strategic financial alternative in the capital structures of medium- and large-size corporations and not merely an aggressive weapon used to finance hostile corporate takeovers. |
