Abstract: | The control of major accident hazards and occupational safety has developed considerably since the 1974 accident at Flixborough in the UK. There are those who believe that the only way to control the negative activities of business is through very stringent legislation, while others adopt the process of self-regulation as a means of ensuring safety within industry. This paper seeks to explore the dynamics of this self-regulation process as a control strategy. |
