Abstract: | In this article the authors examine the gamesmanship of publishing quality journals. In this case with gamesmanship the authors explain that quality journals are defined in terms that are themselves defined in terms of quality journals - a circularity that explains both the paper's title and the frustration of those who do not mix in these circles. The authors use the findings from a survey conducted in UK to heads of Management Studies departments, to suggest that gamesmanship is commonly found in management studies journals. The authors argue that gamesmanship will remain regular until the rewards for publishing connect to the content of papers, to what is published rather than where it is published. |
