Abstract:Existing, received theories of entrepreneurship have generated a multitude of research concentrating on the individual variations of entrepreneurial behaviour, and little attention has been paid to analysing the source of entrepreneurial opportunities. By identifying knowledge and ideas created within the organization as important sources of entrepreneurial opportunities, this article disputes taking the source of such opportunities as given. Based on the conception of a context with more knowledge generating more entrepreneurial opportunities, the paper suggests that by commercializing knowledge the entreprises turn themselves into passages of knowledge spillovers. Empirical support is provided for these views.
