| Abstract: | In this paper the authors examine the role that social asset specificity plays in influencing channel integration decisions. Transaction cost literature is combined with the literature on property rights to develop the arguments , and they empirically examine integration in a context where the firm-market choice is not apparent: integration of distribution activities. Using data for 1392 business units, they perform tests, the results of which indicate that social asset considerations are important in influencing forms to vertically integrate. |
