Abstract:The image of consulting as profession is lampooned in today's humour, and consulting is becoming the focus of civil lawsuits. It is argued that this does not have to be the case. This article presents five important topics in understanding and preventing client allegations of consultant misconduct. A checklist of issues that need to be addressed by both consultant and client in minimizing the likelihood of a client alleging unethical consultant conduct is presented.
