Abstract:In the article, examined are the problem of obesity (hereafter as: ob-y.) in the U.S. (United States), the role fast food (here as: f-f.) believed playing in ob-y., and the prospects of legal claims against quick-service operations for ob-y. related damages. Based on literature and case review, analyzed is the potential validity of ob-y. related claims under legal theories of liability. Discussion and recommendations are offered. It is concluded that damages for ob-y. and ob-y. related illnesses may be awarded against f-f. companies, but that such cases are unlikely to succeed.
