Abstract:Spam is a factor that decreases the effectiveness of e-mail marketing. This article examines whether international hotel chains obey the legislative guidelines regarding the use of personal data for e-mail marketing intentions. The analysis draws mainly upon monitoring of multiple e-mail accounts over a one-year period. An analysis of the e-mail marketing practices indicates clearly that hotel companies use the personal data about customers in highly ethical way and their behavior is an example of best practice for other business branches.
