Abstract: | This paper examines the effect of the spread of electric motors and information and communication technology (ICT) on labour productivity growth in Swedish manufacturing. Technology-producing, intensive and less intensive technology-using industries are all explored singly, and the results show that the growth of labour productivity was significantly higher in technology-producing industries following the diffusion of ICT. Further, there was no evidence found that supports the claim that early adoption of electric motors and ICT contributed more to productivity growth. |
