| Abstract: | This paper investigates alternative approaches to conflict resolution by developing a theoretical framework which combines dispute resolution practice and philosophical suppositions about authority and knowledge. By examining the assumptions underpinning interest-based bargaining and mediation their connection to direct democracy and challenge to managerial authority are exposed in theory and practice. |
