Abstract:This article explores summer vacationers' perceptions of Scandinavian weather (henceforth as: wth.) conditions (here as: conds.), with the aim of understanding the relations btw. wth. expectations, wth. perceptions, and adaptive tourist behaviour.
Based on evidence from a survey in an archipelago north of the Arctic Circle, it is shown that most tourists considered wth. conds. during their stay to be fairly good, with wth. aspects having relatively small behavioural impacts. It is shown that when evaluating wth. as to suitability for tourism, traveler motives and intentions with aspects such as comfort or well-being should be considered. Relative to this, Northern Scandinavian summer wth. conds. are satisfactory or acceptable to many tourists.
