Abstract:This paper aims to examine how the principles of talent management (TM) can be leveraged to enhance an organization's knowledge management (KM) initiatives. Herein, critically reviewed is the literature dealing with the emerging concept of TM, particularly that of focusing on "smart talent management". The authors offer insights as to how TM can benefit KM. Identified are five KM concerns: i. identifying key knowledge workers, ii. knowledge creation, iii. knowledge sharing, iv. developing knowledge competencies, and v. knowledge retention. The focus group confirms that these KM concerns can benefit from the integration of TM principles, but some more than others.
