Tiivistelmä (eng): | The delivery process of a user defined remote control system is investigated in this thesis. The investigation is conducted by using two methods; independent research of the system by using documentation within the company and interviews of key people. The target for this work was first to discover the main issues in the delivery processes of the previous project. The second target was, by using the IEEE 1074 Standard for developing software life cycle processes; establish a set of tangible guidelines on how to develop the delivery process further. The system research and the interviews revealed that the major challenges lied within four categories; schedules, documentation, late changes and training. Since the delivery process is divided into two simultaneous projects, one creating a new basic offering of the remote control system and the other engineering the actual remote control system, with the same type of challenges found in both, it was necessary to create individual guidelines for both of these projects. The guidelines are established by using the suggestions given by the standard on how to create sustainable software design and developing these guidelines into company specific methods that can easily be utilized by the company. As the last stage I provide both a list of actions that based on research, are necessary to conduct in the very near future and of actions that must be taken into consideration once the critical actions are done. |
