Tiivistelmä (eng):Sustainability and economic efficiency are the main driving forces for energy industry nowadays.
In order to decrease the environmental impacts from using fossil fuels, this thesis studies three types of alternative fuels which are methanol, propane and ultra-low viscosity liquefied fuel gases (ULV-LFG).

To understand these three alternative fuels, the thermodynamic properties and equation of states (EOSs) of these fuels are studied through literature reviews.
Moreover, different fuels behave differently, which requires different designs of engine fuel injection system.
Therefore, the EOSs of these fuels and two general thermodynamic equations are used to build a mathematic model, which can calculate and predict the behaviours of these three alternative fuels in their own fuel injection systems.

The mathematic model is used to calculate the temperature and pressure of these three types of alternative fuels in the start-up and safety valve (SSV) areas of their injection systems.
Moreover, the results of this calculation are analysed, and based on this analysis, this thesis provides the recommendation for the design of the fuel injection systems of methanol, propane and ULV-LFG.
