| Tiivistelmä: | The UK market for video recorders is examined. The VCR market slipped by 5 percent in 1990 with a more pronounced decline in value. Average unit prices were down by about 2 percent. New video rentals accounted for 345,000 units in 1989 and 325,000 in 1990. The market has been badly affected by pressure on consumer spending. Estimates for 1991 indicate further falls. Compact high band formats are out-performing the market as a whole. Volume sales are expected to pick up again in 1993. Growth will come in the combination of TV video sector, parallel with a further decline in stand-alones.
