| Tiivistelmä: | Some aspects of the relationships between technology and work are considered. The use of new technologies in enterprises is discussed, and the nature and circumstances of the work of people for these enterprises are examined. A simple model is developed which outlines the basic "cause-effect" relationships between technology and work. The effects are evident on micro, macro and work ecology levels. The impact of technology on work is illustrated by case examples from telecommunications, supermarkets and banking. The role of managerial motivation is considered. Technological maturity is contrasted with organizational immaturity. Technology's impact on work de-structuring and system flexibility is also investigated. |
