| Tiivistelmä: | The strong competition between the different, foreign and German, private and public tv news programmes and channels in Germany is considered. New private news programmes such as n-tv and Vox are trying to capture the 1ovker-ons of the news programmes of the two traditional German tv companies, the ARD and ZDF. CNN plans another attack on ARD and ZDF: the well known American news channel may broadcast German speaking programmes. As a result of these efforts the two German tv companies have already lost a third of their market. The problems of ARD and ZDF as well as the strategies of their private competitors on the field of news programmes are analyzed. |
