Tiivistelmä:Traditional control systems based on feedback have the obvious disadvantage that it takes place after the event and valuable time is lost putting things right. Feedforward control is preventive rather than remedial and may help explain the success and quality of Japanese production methods. The following characteristics of feedforward control are considered: 1. it is easier to anticipate environmental demands; 2. planning is feedforward control; 3. feedback is the foundation, feedforward is the superstructure; 4. the obvious additional costs of a feedforward system are offset by a number of benefits; 5. managers wil profit more if they rely on feedforward control for new as well as established activities.
