Tiivistelmä:Using survey data a meaningful comparison is made between the strategic planning practices of USA and South Korean banks. Despite cultural and environmental differences in the two countries, many similarities in strategic planning and management are noted. These may in part reflect America's strong presence in the Republic of Korea after World War II. The strategic planning processes are described and analyzed. The responsibility for strategic planning is discussed. The use of the most important planning tools is reviewed. The output of planning is characterized by the plan contents, time horizon, types of bank goal, strategic orientation. The differences in these elements in the two countries are shown.
