Tiivistelmä:When a Japanese securities firm was briefly suspended from the Tokyo Stock Exchange last year, two of the firm's top executives apologized by bowing at the exchange in a display of puplic humiliation. In the United States, a judical slap on the wrist is the usual punishment for our most notorious white collar criminals. Japan and America clearly operate under different ethical standards. But as Japan's economic influence continues to grow, will their ethics infiltrate Wall Street? Meanwhile , in Japan, top executives from one industry to another are drastically cutting their own salaries and bonuses to absorb sales declines and to keep managers and workers employed. Unfortunately, the code of conduct of Japanese executives does not influence or in any way affect Wall Street.
