Tiivistelmä:This article presents evidence from a 1991 survey of 406 large companies indicating that corporate education and training practices are shaped by 4 company characteristics: human resource innovativeness, management resistance to change, work redesign to enhance quality and involvement, and firm downsizing. These aspects are selected because they are reasonably subject to managerial discretion. Though management cultures and company organizations are by no means readily altered, executives have the capacity to introduce changes in both.
