| Tiivistelmä: | Austria, Sweden and Finland joined the European Union at the start of this year. of the highly developed European countries it is now only Switzerland and Norway - who rejected more far reaching steps towards integration in referenda - and Iceland and Liechtenstein which do not belong to the Union. Even so, Europe is larger than the EU. If all the expectations that have been raised were to be fulfilled, by the year 2010 the European Union would have around 30 member states. |
