| Tiivistelmä: | The character of people's working lives is changing. The paper looks at the changing nature of work, drawing primarily on examples from the less developed and newly industrialized countries of the world. It suggests several ways in which we might have to revise or extend our understanding of the term "work" in the light of increased female participation in the waged labour force. Most sociological studies of work look at its effects on the family and on family relations. It is much less common for studies to analyze the problem from the opposite point of view and focus on the impact of the family on work and work relations. |
