| Tiivistelmä: | The articles published in this issue of the Journal help advance the debate on market reform in former socialist states. In this comment, besides dealing with data analysis issues, the authors suggest several ways to improve the level of debate about substantive issues. These suggestions include more attention to politics, including path dependence, and more attention to middle-level generalizations from other developing market societies. The authors' suggestions include building on some of Stark's earlier themes about bargaining and path dependence (Sabel and Stark 1982; Stark 1992). |
