Tiivistelmä:In 1996 the shirt market amounted to 80 mn units, worth of 1,650 mn pounds. Conventional shirts accounted for about 62 per cent of the market by volume and value, and casual shirts for the rest. Like all mane's outerwear, sales of shirts were severely depressed during the recession but recovered well in 1996. The shirt market is supplied mainly by Far East imports with the notable exception of UK-produced supplies for Marsk&Spenser. Women are almost as important as purchasers of men's shirts as men.
