Tiivistelmä:As originally defined by L. van Bertalanffy, equifinality is said to be a general property of open systems such that as far as they attain a steady state, this state can be reached from different initial conditions and in different ways. By examining the degree of conflict in functional demands and the latitude of structural options available, the authors describe 3 different types of equifinality: suboptimal, tradeoff, and configurational.
