| Tiivistelmä: | In Saskatchewan, Canada, the vacation farm sector is an embryonic and apparently marginal which is not fulfilling its potential to contribute more effectively to the goal of rural diversification. This article has described the results of a self-administered questionnaire distributed to all known vacation farm operators, and has made a number of recommendations for the enhancement of the sector so that its potential contributions to Saskatchewan, and similar rural jurisdictions can be realized. An increase on the number of participants should be possible through the nurturing of a quality product which emphasises closer links with adjacent public spaces, diversity of available client activities through consortial linkages, a stress on ecotourism, and greater efforts to attract the local and non-Canadian markets. |
