| Tiivistelmä: | The 35 members of the Presidential Commission for Financial Reform were all smiles when, on June3, President Kim Young Sam ordered the government to draft legislation based on their recommendation. On June 16, however, the Ministry of Finance and Economy announced a much watered-down reform package. In their protest to the government, thousands of central bankers are threatening to walk out. With a lame duck president due to leave office in February, a big bang is unlikely to come any time soon in South Korea. |
