| Tiivistelmä: | In 1989 Poland started the biggest socioeconomic experiment in its postwar history: the radical switch toward a market economy and a Western-style democratic system. One of the major moves of the first postcommunist government in Poland was loosening thigh bureaucratic regulations and controls over various aspects of economic life. The consequence was a rapid expansion of a variety of economic activities. |
