| Tiivistelmä: | The links between FDI (foreign direct investment) and the transfer and diffusion of technology are summarized. Many developing countries have traditionally relied on a combination of various fiscal incentives and performance and technology transfer requirements to attract foreign multinational firms and to control their operations. However, policies to support local technological capability and labour skills may facilitate spillovers of technology from MNCs (multinational companies). Policies to ensure that the foreign affiliates operate in a competitive environment appear to be essential. |
