| Tiivistelmä: | The subjects of this paper are oil prices and oil supply and demand in United States. The author demonstrates expected changes in the economic conditions on both demand and supply sides of petroleum and the consequent impact on prices in the United States in 2001. The paper also considers the features of the oil situation leading toward much lower prices and discusses factors causing major divergence from the anticipated path of oil prices. The author also pays great attention to the implications for policy and strategy. The author states that discussions of oil policy and prices are highly polemical due to a number of factors. |
