| Tiivistelmä: | This article examines the connection between corporate strategies of the leading European retailers and their financial performance. Firstly, the authors establish various sector- and company-specific factors affecting the companies' financial performance in light of their chosen strategies. Secondly, the authors analyse the relationship between corporate growth strategies, globalisation and financial performance for the sample group. Next, the potential of e-transformation strategies to enhance financial performance is considered. In the final part of the article the authors offer conclusions from the analysis suggests a number of directions for future research. |
